Cardiff City have won the Championship play-off for the first time since the 2009-10 season with a 4-0 win over QPR in the play-offs.
Rafael, who scored a stunning goal in the first half to give QPR a 3-0 lead, nodded in from a free-kick after a long pass from David Meyler, but the hosts couldn’t take their chances as the game went to extra-time.QPR keeper Ben Gibson was also on target for the hosts, who are third in the Championship and have only beaten Championship leaders Norwich once.
The visitors are in second spot and five points behind leaders Manchester United and sit a point behind fourth-placed Norwich.
“This was a very important game for us,” said Gibson.
